UNIFORMS

Uniforms are compulsory at our school. Sometimes children wear long sleeve tops and tights underneath their uniforms, which is OK if they are not visible.

GIRLS

Girls Uniforms- all year round we wear red t-shirts, green polar  fleeces and most wear green skorts but some wear shorts. The red t-shirts come in short sleeve and long sleeve options.

BOYS

Boys Uniforms- all year round we wear red t-shirts, green polar fleeces and most wear green shorts but some wear long green trousers in the winter.

SPORTS

Sports Uniforms - our sports uniform is a red shirt with two green strips on either side and a pair of loose green shorts. Both boys and girls wear the same thing and we wear it at school during fitness, and on sports days. We also wear it outside of school for some team sports (e.g. volleyball)

ACCESSORIES

SHOES - When we leave our school on a field trip it is compulsory to wear shoes. 

HATS - In Term 1 and Term 4 it is compulsory to wear a hat. In Terms 2 and 3 hats are optional. During the summer terms  (Term 1 &4)  if you forget your hat you have to play under the shaded areas at morning tea and lunch time.
 
JEWELLERY - It is common for girls to wear earrings but not many girls wear necklaces apart from greenstones. Some girls do wear bracelets though.

I hope you like the look of our uniforms because that's what you'll be wearing for 6 years if you come to Bethlehem School!

OFFICIAL SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY

 Purposes:

· That the uniform consists of items as described in the schedule below.
· That the uniforms items are attractive, durable, comfortable and as moderately priced as possible.
· That the uniform serves to identify the children with Bethlehem School.
· That parent feedback is considered as a part of a regular evaluation of the uniform.

Guidelines:

1. The uniform will be worn all year round with variations for seasonal changes.
2. The uniform will be made up of approvable items on the schedule. No substitutions will be acceptable.
3. Sun hats will be worn for all outdoor activity during terms I and IV.
4. All items of clothing and footwear must be clearly named.
5. Footwear must be sensible, preferably in colours of brown or black. Black or white socks are also acceptable.
6. Uniforms will only be available for purchase through Postie Plus at their Fraser Cove store.
7. Parents are responsible for maintaining the uniforms to a high standard.
8. Children must wear a full uniform, not part uniform part mufti.

Uniform Schedule:

The mandatory uniform for Bethlehem School currently consists of the following items:

· Short sleeve polo shirt
· Long sleeve polo shirt
· ¾ shorts
· Skorts
· Track pants
· Polar fleece long sleeve (1/4 zip)
· Polar fleece vest (full length zip)
· Bucket style hat
· Slouch style hat

An optional PE uniform for Year 5 & 6 students has been approved by the BOT, the tops are available from Postie Plus and the shorts, which are the same as those used by Otumoetai Intermediate, are available from the Active Outdoor Company on Devonport Rd.
