2009 Year 5 & 6 Electives!
COOKING ELECTIVE
The electives were held on the days of 19th and 25th or March and on the 2nd of April. A lot of the electives were taken out side of school! On all three days when the Year 5 and 6 kids did their chosen electives, they had great fun!
The mini-putt people seemed to have an excellent time, and there were a lot of fun cooking electives! I did a cooking elective with my mum and Michelle Bond, and the first time we went, we made delicious banana choc chip muffins. The second time we made nice cool smoothies and hot chocolate brownies – yummy! The third time we made pikelets and Casey and I played a trick on our teacher [Mrs R]. We put hot chilli pepper in them and she got such a shock when she took a bite. It must have been so funny.

GOLF ELECTIVE
My golf elective was taken at Tauranga golf course with Mark the Golf Pro and ten other students. We practised chipping, fairway hitting and driving. It was fun and I did the School Holiday programme at Easter as well.
This elective was taken over three weeks and we leant how to drive the ball over eighty meters. We had competitions in putting, driving and fairway hits.

ARTS & CRAFTS
On the 19th and 25th of March and the 2nd of April the Yr 5’s and 6’s did electives. There were lots of different electives but I chose arts and crafts with Whaea Moana. In the arts and crafts electives group there were 10 of us including me. On the first day of electives we made origami stars. We did 2 and a ½ different pointed stars. Our 1st one was an 8 pointed star and the 2nd one was a 6 pointed star and our ½ done star was suppose to be a 5 pointed star but it didn’t seem to work so we just didn’t do it. Instead we got different coloured paper made different sized stars and glued them onto one another so it would be one big rainbow star. Then we had to go back to our classes.
