Posted by techkids on Wednesday, 17 June 2009

On Wednesday 3rd of June the senior syndicate held their cross country.

First were the year five girls and then as soon as the third girl got back the year five boys left on their race. After the year five boys left the year six girls did their stretches and then as soon as the third boy got back the year six girls started.
Then the year 6 boys got called for their stretches. After the third girl got back the Boys left.

We had to go down Carmichael road from the empty section in St Michaels into the back of Mayfield then past the gravel path down the road into Westmorland Dr. Then up Athfield drive and up onto the Westmoreland hill – (THE GUT BUSTER) -before going back on Bethlehem Rd and then turning down Carmichael Rd so we could sprint to the finish.
The top 8 from year 5’s and year 6’s – boys and girls - go through to East Cluster at Waipuna Park on Tuesday 16th June.

Year 6 Camp
Posted by techkids on Wednesday, 17 June 2009

On Wednesday the 13th of May the year six students went to Totara Springs for their year 6 camp. We had our own cabin groups of our pick. There were 11 children in our cabin. Most of the cabins stayed up till about 10 o’clock - some a bit later. We got lots of free food and desserts. YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMM!!!!!!

We got to do millions of activities like go-carts, archery, flying fox, abseiling , rock climbing, kayaking, hydro slide and hot pools. We had lots of free time and things like that as well. We had lots and lots of fun at Totara Springs and I recommend it for other schools. WE LOVED CAMP!!!

 Yr6 Camp

On year 6 camp we did a lot of different activities. They where Archery, rock climbing, kayaking, Flying fox, go carting, and also abseiling. There were 12 of us to a cabin but in some only had about 9-10.

There was a really awesome water slide and a nice hot pool. One of the dads bought a complete gorilla suit and on the Burma trail he ran around helping to scare people. On the Burma trail a couple of people where crying but most were either laughing or being brave.

At camp we all had to do a job - mine was toilet cleaning but luckily I pretty much got a way with it. Some people’s job was setting the dining room tables.

The flying fox was quite fun. For our groups we got split up. There was really nice food and pretty much every meal was either 2-3 course. My dad took Dylan down the flying fox. On the 2nd day the yr5’s from Mrs A’s class came and also a couple more parents.

 Year Six Camp

On Wednesday the 13th May the year six’s of Bethlehem school went to Totara Spring’s for their school camp. As soon as we got there we got to go and watch a safety DVD and then we got to have morning tea - we had an apple and a caramel slice and then we had to get into groups.

I was in group 2 - we started on the abseiling - it went in alphabetical order and I was last of course like I am always! But when I got to the top every one was looking at me but I didn’t like it because of the man that was at the top. He holds you the whole way down.

Next we did Rock Climbing. It was fun because I got to go first because I was last on the abseiling. I went on the hardest wall first & when I went on to the hardest wall I made it to the top and on my second time when I got to the top I got to swing across the room & on my first time I fell off and went half way across the room.

Then we went to the dinning room for dinner. Then we went eeling or we could go to the gym so I went to the gym and played games till 10 o'clock. At eeling we could not kill the eels but they did for the bait for the eel fishing then we had to go to bed - but me and Lake didn’t because Lake kept banging on the wall and talking to me - I was trying to go to sleep and then an adult walked in and told as to go to sleep when I was just about to go to sleep! But then I didn’t get to go to sleep all night because he was still banging on the wall.

But we were a bit tired. But we still had a good time on camp.
