Guiding Principles

Here are the underlying beliefs that our school must follow as an enviroschool. We will be gaining better understanding of them as part of the reflection process the envirokids are undertaking to apply for our school to be acknowledged as a Silver Award school.

 

 ? Sustainable Communities act in ways that nuture people and nature, now and in the future.

? Empowered Students including students in decision making and action empowers them to be active environmental citizens and enriches the development of the whole school environment.

? Environmental  Education action focused approach to learning that engages us in the physical, social, cultural and political aspects of our local and global environment.

? Maori Perspectives and knowledge of the environment enriches learning and honours the status of indigenous people in this land.

? Respect for the Diversity of People and Cultures  is integral to achieving a sustainable environment in N.Z. that is fair, peaceful, and co-operative and makes the most of our rich cultural traditions.
