This year there are 5 groups in Enviroschools. They are:
Bekashi
The bekashi buckets get taken out by the monitors every day to reduce food scraps. They also sort the food and empty the buckets.
Compost
In compost we sort food scraps into the compost bin and make sure any bread or meat gets put into the bekashi bin.
Worm farm
In the Worm farm we make sure that no orange peels, bread, meat and glad wrap get fed to the worms.
Vege garden
In Vege Garden they plant and water vegetables. During this year, three planter boxes and the pavements have been laid down. Now we can make the vegetables grow even better because the moisture and heat will help the vegetables.
Butterfly garden
This year we have been very busy planting new plants and transforming the Wiremu’s Garden to the Butterfly garden. We hope lots of butterflies will come to the garden.
Pavement Art
Anna’s group are painting board games like snakes and ladders to put around the school so the children can play all kinds of games in their lunch time. It will also make the school look more beautiful.

Vege Garden
When we started with the vege garden all we had was a patch of dirt covered with a big black tarpaulin. Since then we have had a working bee and have built a raised garden. We are currently growing plants and have already harvested some radishes. We have a lot of plants growing such as lettuce, silver beet, carrots etc - we are planning on having a stall where we will sell seedlings and harvested plants. We are going to continue growing plants throughout the year and we will continue having stalls through out the year.
Butterfly Garden
When we started the butter fly garden all we had were empty gardens. Since then we have planted swan plants and most caterpillars have cocooned. We have made a garden with painted rocks and larger trees in it and we would of course by the end of the year like some butterflies.
Worm farm
We already had a worm farm, but we had trouble separating the worms from the dirt so we could refresh things. We also had trouble with the worm rum holder which was filled up with rain water. We have since fixed the problem by picking the worms out of the dirt. We had to tip out the worm rum but we have since got more.
