 2008 Highlights

In 2008, Enviroschools ran for the first time at Bethlehem School and we got off to a great start. We joined a nationwide project along with other schools around New Zealand. There are 22 schools in the Tauranga City region who have also joined Enviroschools.  We submitted all our notes and stories and pictures about the year's work and we gained the Bronze Award.  In 2009 we will work towards the Silver Award. If you want to know more about Enviroschools, please click on the link to their very interesting website.www.enviroschools.org.nz

Enviroschools is working towards the vision of a sustainable school through a whole school approach to environmental education. In 2008, we introduced the idea of "Litterless Lunches" into all of Bethlehem School.  We participated in the Tauranga Garden & Art Festival at The Lakes and we all enjoyed the whole experience.

Enviroschools takes an holistic approach to environmental education. This approach is also known as education for a sustainable future, education for sustainable development or sustainable education.  Whatever the title it is a big subject!
